Change the editor’s settings

The Settings dialog adapts the editor to the way you write: a dark background, larger text, a status bar that follows your cursor, your words and your feet, the language of the menus, and whether Ilena suggests line endings as you type. Open it when the text is hard to read, when you want to keep an eye on length while you write, or to turn suggestions on or off.

Open Settings

  1. In the editor, open the Ilena menu and select Settings, or select the Settings button in the toolbar.
  2. Make your changes on the General tab, the Tools tab, or both. A change made on one tab is kept when you switch to the other.
  3. Select Ok to apply your changes, or Cancel to leave everything as it was.

Your settings are kept: they are still there after the page is reloaded.

The General tab

Dark mode
Gives the editor a dark background.
Large font
Makes the text of your work larger.
Show cursor position
Adds the line and column of your cursor to the status bar, along the bottom of the window, for example Ln 1, Col 40.
Show word count
Shows the number of words and verses of the open work in the status bar, for example Words: 9 · Verses: 1.
Show feet stats
Adds the mean number of feet and their range, for example Mean feet: 12 Range: 12–12.
Interface language
The language of Ilena’s menus and messages: English, French or Spanish. After Ok, the editor changes language at once, and your account page follows. For example, once French is chosen, the Work, Edit, Tools and Help menus become Œuvre, Édition, Outils and Aide.

Settings from your account page

The Ilena menu of your account page opens Settings too. There, the General tab offers only Dark mode, Large font and Interface language, and the Tools tab is the same as in the editor. What the account page itself holds is described in Manage your account: password, sessions and subscription.
