Ilena or Lyrcs? Where each one is ahead

Lyrcs makes a radically simple choice: leave the page at the centre. No account, no compulsory cloud, no elaborate environment. Your lyrics stay in plain text files, reachable offline, while the rhymes reveal themselves in the text as you write.

It is probably the tool in this comparison that comes closest to a digital lyric notebook with a few specialised instruments added to it.

And on that ground Lyrcs goes far. It detects and displays rhymes automatically, handles chords, works offline, lets you work without an account, keeps texts in an easily portable format, and even lets you correct its analysis by hand. Ilena also plans visual rhyme detection, but does not set out to reproduce several of those deliberately minimal choices.

Ilena pursues a different ambition: not only to show what is already on the page, but to help you explore everything that might still be born there.

Around a word, Ilena can open definitions, antonyms, word families, lexical fields, homophones, phrases and figures of speech. It carries French, English and Spanish in one environment, can read the emotion running through a passage, and offer, when you want it, a direction shaped by the context of your text.

Those suggestions stay under your control throughout. They appear to feed your thinking, never to take possession of your page.

And Ilena sets a clear limit to that closeness with your writing: your texts belong to you and are never used to train a model.
